Condensing eighty hours of work into nine minutes of film is not easy. Massimo Sodi, aka “Maxsodino”, has succeeded in making it clear how, starting from a 12-foot bamboo pole, you get to the rod ready for fishing, focusing on the most significant phases of construction.

This film, with a joking title, was made in 2011, and shows the phases of construction of the rod for the fiftieth birthday of a dear friend, who unfortunately passed away.

Some of the phases of the process have evolved over time.

• I changed the oven for tempering the bamboo, the current one has greater temperature control.
• I changed the hollowing system, which is now much more precise and above all replicable.
• I bought a lathe, a precious tool in certain phases of the process and indispensable for the creation of components varies: handles, reel seats… definitely a leap in quality.
